Stolen political sign causes woman to paint lawn

Sunday November 2, 2008

This coming Tuesday promises to be one of the most spectacular and important elections in America's history. A lady from Austin Texas got fed up with people stealing her lawn signs so she decided to spray paint a huge Barack Obama logo on her lawn with 12 cans of red, white, and blue spray paint.

Said Shannon Bennett, home owner/lawn painter;

"The signs cost money and it's coming into my front yard and taking away my freedom of expression,"

Only during elections, do front lawns have the potential to become battlegrounds for the first amendment, divide neighbors, and drive people to steal political signs from one another. What a country!

I think it's a nice gesture and a pretty good solution to the sign thieving problem but, unless that was water-based, turf marking paint, that lawn is going to have a giant dead spot where the beautiful logo used to be.
