Toro recalls snow blowers and lawn mowers

By , About.com GuideMay 2, 2011

Follow me on:

The Toro Company is recalling 23 000 Power Clear snow blowers and 6200 Recycler 20" lawn mowers due to fire potential and burn hazards

The carburetors on the lawn mowers and snow blowers develop fuel leaks and can ignite when exposed to flame. Although no fires or injuries have been reported, there have been about 500 reported carburetor leaks.

The products were sold at Toro dealers in the U.S. and Canada from September 2009 through March.

Consumers are advised to immediately stop using the snow blowers and mowers and should contact a Toro service dealer for a free repair.

That doesn’t sound too serious if it’s just a leaky carb, you should always be careful around anything that uses fuel anyway. Do you know if this affects the Toro 38381 model?

My experience with Toro leaves me cold.
Purchased new Toro Power Max 826 OXE snow blower in August of this year. I went through the process of starting it last week (turn on fuel valve, etc) by the time I got an extension cord to use the elec. start the floor was covered in gasoline !!
The dealer picked it up, took to the shop, and just informed me that it needs a NEW CARBURETOR !!
